If I should harken back to ancient times and "thank my lucky stars" then my thoughts instantly go to the starburst galaxy M82. The intrinsic brightness of this galaxy has brought joy to thousands of stargazers through the years since it is one of the few that can be seen reasonably well under bright moonlit skies. Without this galactic luminary my public (visual) programs would be made that much duller during the full moon- and so I wish to express my appreciation by capturing its portrait:
